This beautiful combination solarium and outdoor kitchen is a project that Calgary's Best is quite proud of! Our team worked to create a functional, inviting space for these homeowners. The project features two top of the line Dec-Tec vinyl membrane patterns, and stunning topless glass railing from Innovative Aluminum (with an extra protective coat of Enduroshield!). We couldn't have done it all by ourselves though. While Team Purple led this project, it was a collaborative effort with many great local Calgary businesses! So how exactly did this deck come to life? Calgary's Best was responsible for leading the project. We tore down the existing deck and built out a deck extension and new stairs before laying the vinyl. We built the foundations of the kitchen as well, before installing the glass railings. When the project was finished we came back to touch up paint and apply our protective Enduroshield coating to the glass panels. Suncoast Enclosures created the sun room, as well as the installation of the louvered roof and motorized retractable screens. Bekmar Mechanical did the hot and cold water hook ups for the kitchen. The electrical work was done by Colz Electric, who set up the surround sound system featuring Bose Speakers, as well as the designer lighting. The stonework in the kitchen and on the outside pillars was done by Eric Blanchard. Finally, Protech Gas Fitting set up the fire table, heaters, BBQ, and pizza oven which were all supplied by BBQ Galore.

Team Purple got together this weekend in support of Angel Hair 4 Kids and The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. We're thrilled with the support that was shown by donation and attendance and wanted to share these moments from the night with you. Our GoFundMe campaign will be active for several more weeks, and we would appreciate any donation you can give if you haven't already done so. Team Purple’s Charity Fundraiser for Cancer Research is just a day away, and we thought this was a great time to share some information about the cause we’re supporting, and why this research is so vital to so many Canadians.
Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with brain cancer. In 2017, 3000 Canadians were diagnosed with brain and spinal cord cancer, and 2400 Canadians died from brain and spinal cord cancer. Depending on the type of tumour, brain cancer can have a survival rate of less than 10%. Current treatment for generally includes surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, often used in conjunction with each other. Due to the nature of brain cancer and it’s location within the body, these treatment methods can be risky and sometimes leave the patient with long term side effects. Additionally, brain cancer is a disease that has personally affected the friends and family of Team Purple, and we understand how devastating its impact can be. It's a cause close to home, and we want to do as much as we can to help. That’s why it’s so imperative to continue funding research to help develop safer and more effective ways of treatment, as well as to learn more about this type of cancer to assist in earlier detection of the tumours. Calgary’s Best appreciates every bit of your support in helping us raise money for the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. You can help us out by directly donating through our GoFundMe linked here, or by sharing our posts to help spread the word. A Child's Voice Foundation - Angel Hair 4 Kids The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Along with premium vinyl membranes, Calgary's Best also offers amazing custom railings to elevate your outdoor space. From aluminum pickets in a variety of widths, designs, and styles to our framed and topless glass railings, Team Purple can work with you to make sure your railing is exactly what you want. Our railings are custom made for each job, ensuring the perfect fit and look.
Custom railing is the best choice for your deck, as we can ensure the proper fit, spacing and sizes of your railing. Store bought railings from outfits such as Home Depot or Rona are generally made in exact lengths and while they can be cut down to size, can result in uneven panels and choppy spacing on your project. This leaves a messy, unprofessional look on your deck. Our custom rails are also Canadian made, using premium material to provide the highest quality possible. But how exactly does our railing get made? Keep reading to find out! Step 1) The Quote! Team Purple will come out to see your project and work with you to help you achieve exactly what kind of railing you're looking for your project, going through colour, material, and styles choices with you. Once you've approved the estimate and the project moves forward, the fabrication begins! Step 2) The Fabrication! Aluminium Fabrication Team Purple works with two great Canadian railing fabricators. Universal Metals is located right here in Calgary. Their fabrication generally takes two weeks, with an additional two weeks for the powder coating process. This timeline can vary depending on the busy summer season of projects! Our second supplier, Innovative Aluminum, is located just a province over, in Langley BC. Their rails undergo the same fabrication and powder coating process, and take approximately six weeks to be completed and delivered. Glass Fabrication Another great benefit of custom railings is that it allows up to reuse your already existing glass! If the glass on your railings is still in great shape, but it's time to upgrade the aluminum frames, Calgary's Best can help create custom railing that will fit your existing panes and freshen up their look. If new glass is needed, Team Purple uses a local glass supplier here in Calgary that provides high quality, tempered glass, with a turnaround time of approximately four days once an order has been placed. Step 3) The Installation! Once the rails have been fabricated and delivered, they're ready to go up! Our railing installs take place after the vinyl membrane has been installed and are generally one of the last steps of the project to complete the look. Sometimes it can be difficult to envision what your home renovation project will really look like. Even though you might have an idea in your head of what your dream deck looks like, lining that dream up with your existing home can be easier said than done. Or sometimes a project presents itself with an extra challenge or feature that needs to be accommodated or incorporated into the design. For example, deciding where and how to fit a new hot tub into your outdoor space! This was exactly the challenge the homeowners faced on this deck renovation project. They had a new hot tub that they wanted built into their rebuild, but had a few different ideas of how they wanted it built. Using photos taken of the home, #TeamPurple built a 3D rendering of how we best thought we could accomplish the homeowners goals and presented it to them. The 3D images helped the homeowner better visualize what the final project would look like, and also allowed them to address issues and changes they wanted before we had even started on the project. Stay tuned to see what final changes the homeowners made to our design, and how amazing this project will turn out! First of all, why aluminum? Aluminium is a unique and widely versatile metal. It’s infinitely recyclable and can be reshaped over and over throughout its life cycle without any deterioration. In fact, nearly 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use to this day! Aluminum products are light weight (a third of the weight of steel!), resistant to corrosion, and strong, making it the perfect railing materials. It’ll keep your deck safe and low maintenance, without the worry of rot or instability. How to Maintain Your Aluminum Rails While one of the biggest benefits of alunium railings is their low maintenance needs, a tiny bit of elbow grease will help extend the look and life of your railing. Aluminum railings should be cleaned approximately every three months using a mild soap and water. This will help prevent any build ups of dirt, pollen or any other outdoor pollutants such as sap or bugs. After washing, rinse with clean water to remove any residual trace of soap. Avoid using abrasive products to avoid scuffing or scratching the surface. If the surface of your aluminum railing is scuffed, Vim or an equivalent cleaning product can be used on non-metallic and non-textured finishes to gently remove scratches. Always spot test your cleaning product on a inconspicuous area of your railing beforehand! Vim or similar products can also be used to remove the white powder that can form on the surface of your rails. This powder is a by-product of the oxidation process between aluminum and oxygen that results in aluminum’s anti-corrosive properties. The fasteners on your railing should be checked once a year as a safety measure to ensure that they haven’t loosen over time. Our Aluminum Calgary's Best works with two great aluminum railings companies to provide you with the best quality on the market. Both of the companies are Canadian companies, who can work with us to help create the deck you've envisioned. Innovative Aluminum Systems
